And now, I'm 38. My birthday present: I'm on my way home. Yay!

Gotta go. See you all later.

Happy birthday!

My family observes a five-day birthday celebration minimum. Except for "big" birthdays; those are ten days minimum.

Mike Stanley | May 10, 2007 07:27 AM

Happy Birthday, dude. Enjoy the well-deserved rest and reunion with the family.

AliceB | May 10, 2007 07:34 AM

Happy birthday John. Have a fun day with your family.

Chang, the real O.C. | May 10, 2007 08:10 AM

Cue the Motley Crue song "Home Sweet Home": slo-mo of John leapging from the cab, dropping his bags at the foot of his driveway and bolting up to meet Krissy and Athena. John stops midway, panting. He collapses. Krissy and Athena rush towards him and drag him the rest of the way up to the house. He is revived with an i.v. of Coke Zero and bacon.

Hope all is well on your birthday! You survived 3 weeks away from your loved ones. Enjoy being reunited with them.

Nikitta | May 10, 2007 08:18 AM

Happy birthday!

clvrmnky | May 10, 2007 08:33 AM

Hey, Cheers!

Now that you are my age, we can expect as much maturity and adult behaviour from you we have all learned to expect from me.

Wait. What?

Cassie | May 10, 2007 08:48 AM

Welcome home to Ohio, and happy birthday.

NineMoons | May 10, 2007 08:57 AM

"Happy Birrrrthday Mr. Scalzzzi."

Hey, I've proven I could probably do it too. ;)

Hope you have a great trip back and most wonderful felicitations on the commemoration of your arrival into the universe!

Jon Hansen | May 10, 2007 09:32 AM

Happy Birthday! Have you started getting AARP solicitations yet?

(I should talk, you're only seven months older than me. But it still means you're old!)

Anne KG Murphy | May 10, 2007 09:56 AM

Happy Birthday, John Scalzi. It was good to see you!

I hope your route home is untroubled and that you have a great day.

CJ | May 10, 2007 09:58 AM

Happy Birthday John! Make sure that Krissy knows you need a long consolation kiss now that you're getting so old ;>

(I'm still trying to convince *my* wife).

CJ | May 10, 2007 09:59 AM

And before you say it, I'm trying to convince her that *I* need one, not that John does.

Deanna Hoak | May 10, 2007 10:04 AM

Thirty-eight? A mere child. My daughter will be 38 in August.

But, may you live a long time, and write us a book a year for all that time.

Wishing you a Happy Birthday & an uneventful journey home.

Wikipedia shows an interesting list of people born on May 10th, including Ariel Durant, Fred Astaire, Donovan, Sid Vicious, Rick Santorum, and Bono. And, of course, you.

Bruce Cohen, SpeakerToManagers | May 10, 2007 01:40 PM

From the moment you joined our family our days have been filled with just a little more joy than most people have a right to have. You have also infused us all with a little more
"geekiness". Thanks for all of your gifts, I hope many gifts are returned on this special day.
Happy Birthday John.

John is actually listed in the Wikipedia May 10th birthdays. Woo-hoo. Now, I just have to do something cool so I can get listed too.

Belatedly, Happy Birthday!
I posted images from your reading at Olsson's in DC just now, at http://www.flickr.com/photos/58556028@N00/.
For those who missed the mendacious Mr. Scalzi in person, he's good -very, very good. And entertaining as heck too.

John Scalzi | May 11, 2007 09:57 PM

Thanks, Karl!

Looking at the pictures, it's clear I'm very, uh, animated.

Ray | May 14, 2007 09:25 AM

I would sing "Happy Birthday" to you in German but they sing it in English.
Happy Birthday though...Even though its belated.
