John Scalzi's Culinary Discovery of the Day

It's not rocket science: Three scoops vanilla ice cream, a handful of Rice Krispies and a spiral of Dulce de Leche dessert topping. In a word: Yum.

I was gonna take a picture, but then I ate it. Sorry.

This wasn't one of those "You got Rice Krispies in my vanilla ice cream just as I accidentally dropped the Dulce de Leche topping into the bowl" sort of discoveries? Because I hate those kind.

Also good, if you are an eggnog fan: Haagen Dazs eggnog ice cream (seasonal flavour) and Belgian butter wafer cookies. (They are like buttery sweet ice cream cones rolled out flat. You can dip them in the Haagen Dazs like chips in dip.)

So, have you tried fish sandwich with cole slaw on the sandwich (instead of a side)? Or my favorite comfort food, peanut butter, mayonnaise, lettuce and tomato?

What you need were caramelized Rice Crispies. Not ordinary rice crispies.

I have been enjoying various breakfast cereals for years with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, My Mom always thought I was weird but hey, its good....my persanel favorite is honey nut cherios with vanilla ice cream!!!!

And of course, bar b que pork on a bun with a scoop of cole slaw....yum yum

A slight variation. I had completely forgotten about this, but as a kid, one of my favourite desserts was:

vanilla ice cream, handful of corn flakes and then pour golden syrup over the top.

Thanks for jogging my memory - I'll be sure to try it out again soon!
