"Alien Animal Encounters" at Escape Pod

Image: Douglas Triggs

Can't wait until the Synthetic Confusion convention for someone to read my work out loud? Well, then, you shouldn't have to. The fine folks of Escape Pod have enacted my short story "Alien Animal Encounters" in verbal form and placed it into a convenient podcast package here. Download it and carry with you always as a symbol of your undying love for me and/or Escape Pod and/or science fiction and/or podcasts. So much love. Enjoy!

Ooh, and iTunes tells me it's Explicit. It's downloading even as I type. Of course, since I have a subscription to the podcast, it would've downloaded this afternoon, anyway.

Thanks for the heads-up.

Volokh on OMW and ATS http://volokh.com/posts/1134603293.shtml

and Instapundit links.

Yup, I've seen them.

Ach. I look at the graphic, and think "so out of balance." I hope Steve didn't give you that, I'd have to kill him (I'm assuming you just grabbed the banner and cut it in half).

On the up side, my name up top here (in extreme blur-o-vision) is sweet. Even if I'm the only person who noticed and/or knows it's actually my name.

(And now I can now officially call myself a cranky artist.)

That I did. Don't blame Steve. And by all means, if you have a better graphic, send one along and I'll be happy to swap it in!

Email on the way.

Yes, Doug (aka Doubt) was the artist behind the famous Escape Pod logo. It's a brilliant piece of work, worth at least twice the case of ginger ale I paid him.

I've said it in private, but I'll say it in public: thanks for sharing your work with us, John. This story was one of the most fun ones I've yet had the pleasure to produce.

John Scalzi | December 15, 2005 12:58 PM

You're welcome! I glad it was fun to do, because it was fun to listen to.

doubt | December 15, 2005 01:52 PM

Well, it was a fairly expensive case of ginger ale (I think beer would have been cheaper, at any rate). I think I'll go have another bottle.

Ah, Blenheim.

Got a chance to listen today. Funny.

And educational. For now on, I'll think twice about letting creatures get close to my johnson.

John Scalzi | December 16, 2005 03:30 PM

Well, Stan. I'm glad to have been able to contribute to that decision.
