Completing the Trifecta of Adorable Cat Abuse Photos

My kid rocks. And that's all I have to say about that.

This picture now joins the other two, each featuring a different cat in the family. Here's the one with Lopsided Cat, from last summer:

And of course the popular one featuring Ghlaghghee, from last year:

Oh, don't worry. They're all perfectly fine. And Rex is great with lemon butter.

Cat... the other, other white meat.

Squid | March 1, 2005 01:40 PM

And Rex is great with lemon butter.

Is that seasoning or lube, pervert?

John Scalzi | March 1, 2005 01:41 PM

Why not both?

Steve Brady | March 1, 2005 03:45 PM

I love the coat and the tucked-in napkin. She's like a little Hannibal Lector.

John Scalzi | March 1, 2005 04:07 PM

The coat was my idea, but the napkin was hers. Let it not be said she's not fully involved.

Bowler | March 1, 2005 06:43 PM

The baseball bat one is by far my favorite, because it looks the most natural. Like you caught her in the act. She has this arch in her back which makes it look like you caught her at the apex of the wind-up. I honestly believe she's about to beat the bajesus out of the cat there. Also, the lighting looks very artistic and natural, giving it an ironic non-digetic effect, just adding to the comedy value.

The other two are obvious set-ups ;)

Also, on what planet is lemon-butter a lube flavor? Because I never want to visit there.

The outdoor photo has a bit of a "Mutant cats invade from outer space! World saved by plucky child!" theme going for it, there.

Funny how cat's eyes do that. I reckon they do it just to make us take repeated photos, and pay them more attention.

I gotta ask - does Rex always look so...buttered? He (she?) is looking a bit under the weather. Is s/he okay?

Soni | March 1, 2005 08:33 PM

PS - clean your cat bowl, for crying out loud. I looks like someone had a Taco Bell "run for the border" accident in there. Sheesh.

John Scalzi | March 1, 2005 08:39 PM

What is it with the cat bowl? Other people have commented. The cats don't care.

Rex: His major problem is simply that he's an old, old cat (about 15 years old) and he's had medical problem. This is about as good looking as he gets these days.

I made Lee come over to my desk and look at the pictures, and we think they are awesome.

(Now that Lee is back, safely ensconsed at his desk and away from the monitor, I can say, "I want to have babies so I can raise them to do things like this.")

I have to say that the red eye on the newest picture just makes Athena look a little more devious. You'll want to hang onto these pictures in case she brings home a boy y'all don't like one day.

Ah, well, you probably wouldn't really want to eat him then. No doubt he'd be very tough and taste vaguely of liniment and worm pills.

About the bowls: my cats get downright snarky if the bowls aren't cleaned regularly. Plus, there's just the pure aesthetics of the situation. Yeeewww.

Someone named potty telling people they are asses? Now, that's funny.

tammy | July 31, 2006 01:32 PM

I am glad I am not living in your trailer park. .

John Scalzi | July 31, 2006 02:23 PM

Yeah, you wouldn't make it past the tenant committee.

Candy Mccarthy | August 4, 2006 08:42 PM

Why are you posting stupid picutres that encourage small children to abuse animals. NOT FUNNY SICKO

John Scalzi | August 4, 2006 10:06 PM

Dear Candy:

Your comment made me so angry I stomped on my cat's head. I fear what would happen to my other cat if you were to leave another comment.

Love,

JS

what ever you people are doing with these pics i have a family member in the police who reserches sites that have to do with any illegal abuse i have gave him noctice but told him it could be all posses to.

John Scalzi | August 21, 2006 09:20 AM

Since this thread now only appears to attract humorless morons who actually seem to think I would abuse my pets (and then would be stupid enough to put up evidence online), I believe I'll cloe it to further comment.
